Raffle Purpose

The Capay Valley Coalition (CVC) is a community organization committed to agricultural viability and safety in Western Yolo County. It is conducting this raffle to pay the legal fees for the challenge to the Caltrans Highway 16 expansion project. The CVC and Yolo County Farm Bureau have jointly filed a legal challenge to force Caltrans to listen to the concerns and needs of the local community. The CVC believes a less invasive and more targeted set of highway improvements could better meet safety objectives while retaining the rural beauty and agricultural viability of the valley.

	Naturally Raised Berkshire Pork Berkshire or Kurobuta pork has long been prized for its exceptional marbling and superior flavor. 	Two Nights at the Cache Creek Inn B&B The Cache Creek B&B is a lovely craftsman style inn with full wrap-around porch, surrounded by large grassy yards with a hot tub and towering valley oaks. Bedrooms are large and sunny with private bathrooms. In the winter, fireplaces make the lobby cheerful. In the summer, rafting, kayaking and swimming holes are nearby on Cache Creek. Hiking trails are nearby; and birders will like the bluebirds, several species of woodpecker, and others. The coastal hills surround the property. 	Artisan Wood Burned Gourd Dream Gourds are grown and crafted on-farm at Blue Heron Farm in the Capay Valley. Gourds have been used by humans for thousands of years as water vessels and storage containers. Dream Gourds builds on this tradition creating decorative gourds that are unique artistic masterpieces. Gretchen’s gourds have been included in the books “Gourd Pyrography” and “Gourd Craft” and she has become recognized for creating the personalized gourds awarded at the Eco Farm Conference for the past 20 years. The geometric design on this particular gourd has wonderful movement. It teases the eye. 	One Case of Rominger West Wine The grapes used to make Rominger West wines are all grown in Yolo County where the long growing season is characterized by warm to hot days and very cool nights. Our Syrah is medium bodied and full of flavor. 2010 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition Silver Medal winner. Our chardonnay is crisp and fruity with a subtle touch of oak.
