I am writing to ask you to stop Caltrans' project to expand State Highway 16, between I-505 and the casino. Traffic accidents have significantly decreased over the past 5 years, making the project both unnecessary and too costly for a State that is in deep financial trouble. We ask that Caltrans work directly with the community to ascertain what spot improvements need to be made on the existing roadbed, including such improvements as paving existing shoulders, guard rails, occasional pullouts.
